The rate at which things are eveolving is exponential today. We need to catch up...
In the last 40 years or so, a significant shift in consciousness has been reshaping the world
we live in. One of the most noteable and noticeable, for lack of a better word at the moment was
when a man by the name of Werner Erhard created what he called "est". This was the
first westernized program that promised the experience of personal enlightenment
in 2 weekends. The company he started has evolved into what is now known as Landmark
Education personal development and the format of the program has softened, as it
has become more refined. It runs on the basic assumption that telling the truth
makes you free of it, and that it is the meaning that we make out of what happens
to us, not what happens to us that form attachments and dissatisfaction.
spiritual growth development process
What is interesting further is that after a few years, there was a difference
in the attitudes of the people that began taking the program. These people were
collectively closer to the levels of awareness that the early graduates of the first
programs had. Clearly, there was evidence of a systemic evolution occurring that
went beyond individuals as a collection having many individual experiences. A framework
in which realization could be experienced- in deliberate and intentional way
had been established.
Since the inception of the "est" phenomenon, other organizations have emerged
and offered people the ability to beyond who it is they thought they were into an
experience of themselves previously reserved for those willing to sit on mountaintops
for decades in solemn meditation. Among them, mentioned more prominently on this
web site are LifeSpring, Insight, and The MythoSelf® process. This process in the
form it is known at this point has only been around for about 10 years. It offers
a powerful and rapid way to experience a transformative experience based on what
is known as the Generative Imprint- that is to say that we are all born with an
innate ability to experience the sacred and transcendent while being fully engaged
in "day to day" life- it just that many people forget how they do and become something
other than what they are over time. The adaptations they take on begin to be perceived
as their identity.
how to show your personal development
I am sure many people would think it would be great if there were some sort of
objective "personal growth tracker"- where you could have an objective yardstick
which showed how far you've come. This is what I consider to be a trapping of mindless
self indulgence. The true measure of personal development and how it can be shown
comes not from an internal experience of one's self. This would be kind of a personal
growth therapy. This is not what any of these sorts of systems offer. Truly an experience
of real self-fulfillment is personal growth measured in the "space" between individuals-
and individuals with what they are most impassioned and fascinated with - being
engaged in being present to their lives. Great writers, artists and athletes know
this. When they are "in the flow" or "in the zone" as they would put it, they truly
know who they are- and it is obvious to those around them.
