Who Are You Being?

Fixing The Line

Author: Mike

by Mike Davis

It's been a long day at the Philadelphia airport.

I still haven't gotten to where I am going, Las Vegas, but at least I know I have a good chance of getting there now.

The day started out "routinely" enough... Drive to the airport. Park the car. Get to the terminal. Get through security. Get on the plane. Go. Get there.

I sure have been reminded today that many unexpected things can happen within that seemingly short chain of events. The drive to the airport part was longer than expected, the off site valet parking place ended up being well off the beaten path. I arrived, after allowing for 30 minutes to get lost 25 minutes late after that. Driving to the airport didn't happen on time to catch the flight as the main road that gets there had a water main break.

But wait, there's more.

When I got to the airport, the economy parking lot was full and the only spots open were ones with short term rates. I decided to go in search of another off site place to park at that point- deciding not to go back to the original place as I was unsure of how I even got to the airport and didn't want to try my luck back-tracking. I had no idea where to look. About 1/2 mile away along the road I found myself on, I found a place which worked out to be about the same price as the economy lot so I drove in and got a ride in their shuttle to the terminal.

When I got to the terminal, there was a line the likes of which I haven't seen in probably 8 years waiting to check in or talk to ticket agents. Several flights had been cancelled and a lot of people need to re-book flights. I was told if I got myself on the standby list for the next flight going out within 2 hours of my original flight I could wave their usual fee. My larger concern as I looked at the seemingly endless line going from one end of the terminal to the other was that I wouldn't get to a ticket agent in time to get on the standby list in any useful point on a list, and I would pay the fee to boot.

I saw the self serve lines were infinitely shorter so I went up to one and tried to rebook on the computer there. I was given the message that I needed to speak to an agent. There was one right in front of me so I walked up to the counter and waited for her to help me. I stayed quiet and let her finish the flurry of things she was doing. She then looked up, took my now useless boarding pass and re booked me as standby on the next flight. Total wait time: 15 minutes.

Funny how a 15 minute wait can be perceived, depending on the context.

More developments. After a long security line (which I watched with fascination get exponentially longer after I got in it), I finally got to the gate. The flight was delayed 3 hours.
And the flight was overbooked by 10 people. And there were 10 on the waiting list. I saw the potential for a lot of waiting for me. I figured that, better than getting rolled over to the next plane where there were only 3 seats that could be taken before I got one, and then the next one, etc. - maybe it was worth it to go to the customer service desk and see if perhaps they could shuttle me to Las Vegas via whatever, Dallas, Pittsburgh, Boston, LAX, San Francisco, Maui Hawaii(why not?) or...?

So, over to the customer service desk I went. I got in what I thought was the line, directly in front of the counter, only to be met with scowls and sharp tones of "excuse me buddy, the line's over here".

Yup. there is was. Going off to the left, was a short line of people waiting to speak to the airline representatives behind the counter. They were enduring the situation at best. At one point the guy at the head of the line we were in walked over and roped off the area with a stand that the airline had in place to delineate where you should go. Finally, the small group of Asian tourists and the elderly man who were at th counter when I got in line both left at the same time and both representatives were free to speak with the two people ahead of me.

Now I was at the front of the line. A woman stepped up to where she thought the line was, stepping through the roped off area the guy ahead of me had created which had mysteriously come open again. Now I was making the "hey buddy" comment.

She stepped to the back of the line which was now meandering behind me a ways, threatening to go into the seating area and towards the windows. I looked at the people behind me, the empty line to the side, then said "I'll take the lead- how about we put the line back to where it makes sense?" They agreed, but no one moved until I did. Then, they all filed in behind me.

Finally it was my turn to go to the counter. The woman, let's call her Angela, listened to my story and started to look for ways to help me get where I wanted to go.

"You know, Las Vegas isn't the easiest place to get to."

"Get me there anyway you can, anything you can do." I replied.

Her fingers were busy typing. Occasionally she would stop, furrow her brow a little, then start again.

"Hmmm. hmmm. Nope."

"I can get you on a 3:30pm flight to Pittsburgh, but I can't get you out."

Then she looked up, looked at the line, looked at me, and the expression on her face changed.
A little more color came into her cheeks as she typed, reached over and gave me a boarding pass.

"Seat 19B, confirmed, on the direct flight leaving at 3:50. It's a middle seat."

Funny how an eight hour delay and a middle seat can be perceived, depending on the context.
"Thank you, thank you very much" I said, hurriedly putting the ticket in my pocket.

She looked at me and said quietly, "I'm not supposed to do this, but I appreciate you fixing the line."

"Next..."

What Are You Holding on To?

Author: Mike

Funny thing about how the human hands work- they can hold onto something, clutch something, and they can release it. Try it with any object you care to experiment with.

I am assuming you are thinking about something you can hold onto- anything. Clutch it really tightly. Now imagine that there is something else you want to have instead-- something that is much more appealing- much better for you- and you know it.

So, the thing to do, the simple, simple... so simple that it might seem for the moment to be be ridiculous to even mention it ... is to release what you are clutching onto to get that instead.

So--- go ahead. Let it go.

But wait...

There seems to be glitch in the plan, as many of us know.

That whole letting go of what we're holding onto part.

Yes... that would require letting go of what we are holding onto.

Without a sense of consistency, without a pervasive sense of of who it is we are becoming, and how each moment is either moving towards or moving away from that, behind what were are holding onto and what we are reaching out to have next, it can be so scary as to preclude any sensibilities we may have around the
subject... even though it is so simple... a sensibility that goes beyond anything rational or logical.

Without being aware of a sense of who it is we are being and who we are becoming, and that the thing we are holding onto needs to be let go of in order for that to continue to unfold, the process of letting go can feel impossible to realistically consider.

Not to say being aware of it makes it suddenly feel OK- it still is uncertain- but uncertainty and fear are not the same thing.

It is a difference though to consider letting go from that vantage point whether it be things like a death, a breakup or divorce, loss of a job, child leaving the nest--- or even more seductive at times, things like newly falling in love, a new job, or parenting a new child.

Consider this, the moment you are reading this--- that's it. You will never have that moment again. It's gone. It's never the same thing. It's always a different day. A different hour. A different minute. A different second. And it's the only one quite like it and it's only there once.

Who you are becoming becomes the only constant. That's it. And when we hold on to that which is time to be let go, we simply take ourselves away from that becoming- into something based on something historical- something that was, not something that is. In the illusion of holding on, we actually are taking
ourselves way from the only thing we can "hold on" to in a larger sense- the sense of ourselves that, while may not always feel good- or comfortable- or familiar- will in fact always give us what we really want in the first place... Our connection to who we really are.

Paradigms and Communication Mediums - Radio

Author: Mike

It was not so long ago, that Radio and TV were the preeminent modes of electronic communication. In the series here, this an article from 1986 on Radio, written from the point of view of it holding a different place in our collective consciousness than it does today. Who we were in relationship to it was much different. What's interesting here is how different, outdated and outmoded some these concepts are, and how other things have remained entirely similar...

RADIO PROMOTIONS: THE WHYS AND HOWS

Radio waves are everywhere. They are in every country in the world, and and most every country in the world uses them. In the united states, radios were used to transmit and receive signals primarily for military purposes. When radio started being used for purposes other than military, one of the first problems that arose was how to pay for it. In many other countries, the government stepped in and took control and in the U.S., it almost happened as well.

A station called WEAF though, started something that changed radio forever. The station sold time on the radio to someone who wanted to talk about his business. The strategy worked, and it became apparent that a way to fund radio was invented. No governmental intervention was needed. Today, the United States is the only country in the world that has a radio system that is not government controlled.

Advertising has come a long way from the early days of radio. The types of commercials done, and the way in which it is handled is much different. Today, there are a variety of ways in which a commercial is presented, from a disc jockey talking about a product to elaborate and sometimes expensive productions.

There are many reasons why an advertiser can be attracted to radio. Radio is a very far reaching medium, reaching into an estimated ninety-four percent of American homes. 1

Radio advertisers also have a lot of control over who it is that is being reached, due to the number of and variety of stations in any given listening area. 2

Choosing the appropriate audience and station that serves that audience is very important when looking to advertising on radio. (For instance, it would not do an advertiser much good to try and promote an offer for something like free beauty tips during the coverage of a football game or sell afro sheen on a country and western station.)

There are many different things that can be advertised, from goods and services, to the station itself. Promotions which are a very important form of advertising have many advantages. For one thing, it can be fun, not only for the listeners but for the radio staff itself. It makes things that the radio station does important to the listeners. It involves people and invites participation, and most importantly, it attracts advertisers. 3

Promotions can be used to bring in listenership when listenership is going to be predictably low. (For example, a time of year that a lot of broadcasters dread is the early part of January.) Certain promotions, like a year long promotion, can really help a time of the year when things ratings wise are in a slump. Getting prizes are very easy to do in a promotion of this size, and the lost revenue from either trading merchandise or purchasing something (although the former is much more common), can be a tremendously great investment for the amount of listeners it is likely to draw. 4

Promotions are a very useful idea also because although a percentage of revenue for radio comes from national advertisers, the local advertiser is radio's primary customer and it makes sense to work with that fact in mind. 5

In the past 40 years, promotions for radio stations themselves have significantly grown in popularity. 6

A popular form of promotion is known as the remote. A remote means that an event is broadcasted on location of that event. A remote has many advantages to the advertiser as well as the station. It gives the advertiser some very good on the spot publicity as well as bringing the radio station out into the community. Having a special event at a given location can greatly increase customer traffic. One example might be a laudrimat opening. A prize might be offered ("Be one of the first 100 customers down here at Joe's Laundry and receive 10 loads free".) Radio personality involvement can also be a fun idea for a draw. (Come on down to Joe's laundry and have your favorite morning man wash your clothes.) 7

There are risks to the advertiser, though. One of the most important aspects to doing a remote is a form of advertising known as saturation. This means that an advertiser should buy a large number of spots to grab listeners attention, and that can be a moderately sizable investment. If the turnout isn't heavy enough, it could be quite a financial loss after the radio bill has been paid and the "prizes" have been given out. It's a good for the advertiser though, if it's been done already and there's a proven record of it working. 8

Unfortunately, someone's got to be first.

Simplicity is another key factor. Too much information and detail given to the listener can be confusing and can tend to make people mentally tune out the event. A good rule of thumb to go by is, if it can't be said in thirty seconds, don't say it. 9

Advertising on the radio is a very powerful medium, and although many different forms can be used, advertising in the form of a live remote has many distinct and exiting possibilities. As Ralph Tangney of the telecommunications department at Mercer County Community College put it, "You've got to blow your own horn...If you don't blow your own horn, nobody else is gonna do it for you."

While Playing Catch...

Author: Mike

It was a bright sunny day; my girlfriend and I were spending much time indoors. I thought it a good idea to get outside and do something physical. Admittedly, except for dancing (I really love ballroom and swing... I love the concentrated rhythmic excercise... I've rarely come across a dance lesson I didn't like), going outside is something I need to talk myself into most of the time. Of course once I'm engaged in some activity I usually enjoy it - it just takes some motivation for me to get there.

She brought along a frisbee and a tennis ball to the park we walked to. I was happy about the frisbee- I am pretty good with it, and was looking forward to practicing a different throw to get better and have more versatility.

It was the tennis ball I was wishing she left behind.

I figured if we played catching the frisbee long enough she'd be happy with that and forget about the ball. I don't like playing catch with balls- not baseballs, tennis balls, softballs - anything small like that. Too many memories come rushing into my head about being picked last on teams in high school, or how many times I dropped one during a game to the dismay of fellow teammates.
We played frisbee and I was happy to just sit down on the grass an enjoy the sunshine. Just when I thought I was in the clear she stood up and picked up the ball.

I explained to her my lack of skill with catching but she insisted.

At first I was busy proving myself right. I found myself dropping throw after throw, feeling self concious and inept, telling myself to catch it and to stop being concerned it was going to hit me.

It suddenly dawned on me that I have conversations with people on a regular basis about shifting what it is they are paying attention to and very good at shifting people's experience so that it becomes external and very "now" oriented.

Why couldn't I do this in the physical realm with a tennis ball?

That's when the whole thing changed.

I stopped focusing on me catching the ball, and began focusing on my girlfriend- on the ball being back in her hand.

I immedietly noticed several things shifted in my experience:

1. My internal "running commentary" stopped - it was quiet in my head.
2. The speed of the ball soming at me slowed down.
3. I was aware of the ball she was throwing, not the ball that she threw before, nor the one she might throw next.

I was catching the ball most of time now instead of the inverse.

At the end of this experiment, I said "let's throw the ball untill we complete 3 times back and forth successfully without dropping it."

It was during the 9th time in a row she threw it to me without dropping that I dropped it becuase I began to think about what the 10th throw would be like.

Screw your potential!

Author: Mike

by Mike Davis

It was during a conversation I was having with a relationship coach ... someone I respect highly... with whom it is very easy to have a relationship with myself that is very centered... (Joseph Riggio would say when the system comes to rest) that I made a comment that I have made many times before.

It was how I heard reverberate back that profoundly altered it's meaning to me.

I said "I feel like I'm not living up to my potential. That there's a gap in between myself and what it is I know I can do."

She then asked "What's in the gap?"

I thought for a moment and said "there's an experience of disconnect from what it is I know I already am."

And I realized that there HAS to be.

The dictionary defines potential as: Potential:(n)something that can develop or become actual.

By definition, it is something that does not exist yet.

The moment it does exist, it is no longer potential, but in fact reality.

Inherent in the thought form behind potential is a disconnect. It is the description of the GAP between where I perceive myself to be at this moment and where I know I can be.

This is the seductive meaning. It's always available, it just hasn't been reached yet, but it COULD be, if only... blah blah blah.

It is the proveribal carrot at the end of the stick which seems just within reach somehow yet always remains just outside of reach.

I realized that in fact I don't want to live into or up to my potential... To embark along this line of thinking requires that I consider myself to be "less than" the way I think I "should be" when I have reached my potential.

I prefer the experience I have of myself when I consider myself to be like an acorn where the entire oak tree is already present, or a lion cub where the entire adult lion is already present- just not fully realized... yet. It is inevitable, and it requires time and good nurishment to become what it already is. It also means that I do not end up becoming something that I think I should be- I simply become what it is I already am.

The way I know this is that when I consider myself as who I am becoming... and that that is already present... just not fully realized... yet... the system does indeed come to rest.

Essential Siddha Yoga Teachings - Siddha Yoga Meditation

Essential Siddha Yoga Teachings - Siddha Yoga Meditation

Honor your Self,
Worship your Self,
Meditate on your Self,
God dwells within you as you.

This teaching by Swami Muktananda comes from his own direct experience of meditation. It also encapsulates a main teaching from the ancient philosophies of
Advaita Vedanta and
Kashmir Shaivism.

The Self refers to one's innermost core of consciousness, the very source of awareness within. When we experience this inner place through meditation, we realize that our own inner consciousness is one and the same as the universal or divine consciousness.

See God in each other.

Once we begin to perceive God or divine consciousness within, we can recognize that the same consciousness is in others, too. As we embrace the understanding of seeing God in each other, we are able to live a life of utmost love and respect for everyone and everything. Swami Muktananda describes this beautifully in an on-line excerpt from his book From the Finite to the Infinite.

The heart is the hub of all sacred places; go there and roam.

This core teaching of Bhagawan Nityananda points us again to the experience of divinity within each of us. In the philosophy of yoga, "the heart" refers to the innermost place of consciousness that can be known through meditation. The heart is the abode of universal love.

Nothing exists that is not Shiva.

According to the philosophy of Kashmir Shaivism, the whole universe is a manifestation of Shiva, or the Lord. To live with the awareness that Shiva is in all things is a powerful spiritual practice that leads to unity-awareness.

A Personal Transformational Movie- Looking Beyond the Obvious...

Author: Mike

For those curious as to the outcome of the story The Matrix - it is well worth the trip. Here's a word of advice-- don't pay attention to phrases like "good" great" "bad" or "awful" when reading the reviews of others.
As with anything else of value in your life that requires an evaluation as to whether or not it is of value to you... making up your own mind first hand is always the best decision.
If you have any experiences with the journey of shifting your way of "being" in the world like though landmark education or the mythogenic self programs, you will find that the Wakowski Brothers have indeed made that journey too.
With films like this out in the world as evidence of people's shifting internal experiences, I am optimistic that we as humanity are moving in a direction through the chaos that is totally unimaginable for us yet held out into a collective future Intent... and Intent that we are moving toward with a steady future present orientation instead of a past-future one. In other words saying the future will be what we say it will be because we say so- not based on circumstance and environment...
This orientation is a hallmark of personal and trans-personal enlightenment.

Profound Relaxation

Author: Mike

by Michael Davis

A few months ago, I was in California on a business trip. I experienced a back trauma the likes of which I had never experienced before and wish never to experience again. My back was so "out" that my spind had an "S" curve to it at the base and my posture was such that my left hip was at least 3 inches higher than my right.

I was barely able to sleep, as movement of any sort while lying on my back was causing immense pain.

I was fortunate enough to be assisting at a transformational seminar where Charles Moore was helping train. After the first day, he came by my hotel room that evening along with the head trainer and Charles proceeded to do what he calls "profound relaxation" with me.

I have experienced hypnosis before, and while this has many of the same benefits, this was a different experience in that he first was able to put me not only in a profound sense of ease, he eased me into a profound sense of who I know myself to be when I experience my life as endless possibility. It made all the work he did have a special depth of impact. He was able to put me in such a ready state of being open to what was present in that moment that the head trainer was able to speak to me in a way that further deepened the experience I was having and then pulled on my left leg with such force that it nearly pulled me off the bed. I was absolutely relaxed. When I was brought back "out", I felt immensly better and my posture had straightened itself out noticeably. A friend of mine who was in the room at the time later told me that she thought I would scream with pain when the head trainer did that and was amazed that I just lay there so peacefully.

Charles was able to lead me into an incredible sense of my self with an economy of words and a non verbal presence I will always remember... and appreciate with deep reverence and awe. I understand, looking back on it that the work he did enabled me to be ready to have whatever experience was next- in this case it was work directed at getting my body to behave in a more aligned way, but had I gone to him with a sense of wanting to be aligned like that anywhere in my life better it would have been that effective there, as well.

Thank you.

How Are You Learning?

Author: Mike

by Michael Davis

Learning is a fact of life. We as human beings are constantly learning new things. Even if we are not consiously in school or reading or actively persuing to be educated in traditional or commonly thought of ways, the fact is we are always learning.

Learning even when we're "supposedly" not

We are not the same as we were yesterday. There is a massive amount of things being deleted and distorted in our experience if we think this week was like the last or if we think today we are unchanged from the experiences of yesterday. How we are being when we learn is of the most importance, even though it is the least noticed.

It is proven that our memories are altered every time we access them. Memories are not isolated compartmentalized references like files in a computer, but in fact biochemical processes that take into account many things that were in our concious awareness whne the memory was first formed, but also many things that were outside of our awareness as well. When we reactivate the chemical configuarations over time, there is always a new context present. When we re-access memories we are always adding something new to them, based on knowledge or experiences we have gained since the time the memory was last accessed.

Overt or "traditional" learning

Of course there is the traditonal learnings that we undertake, whether it is a course at school, or learning a new phone number or a song or a seminar for personal or business development.

The "How"

ALL learning is state dependent. That means that what state you are when you are learning will determined the accessablity to that learning at a later time. For instance, when you are in school, if you have a class in the morning where you are consistently awake and in a resourceful state becuase you get enough rest and get up early enough to be fully awake, you will find it more difficult to access the learnings you get from that class when you are tired and in an unresourceful frame of mind.

The most effective way for you to have consistent access to what you learn is to be aware of the state you are in when you are learning something and if it is not the state you want to be having, making the adjustments to get into the state you want to be in.

The second part to this obviously is to be aware of the state you are in when you are looking to reaccess a learning and make the adjustments necessary to match the state you wetre in when you had the origional learning. It is precicely because of this I would recommend putting yourself into a state you WANT to be in when learning so that you can be in a sate you WANT to be in later on when you need to reaccess the information you need to get to.

The information used in this article was inspired by Joseph Riggio , Devloper of the MythoSelf(r) Process.

"The Zone"

Author: Mike

by Lauren Goodell

This is a personal article in which the personal enlightenment technology being referenced is the "Mythogenic Self Process" by the author...

Athletes call it being in 'the zone'. Its that seemingly elusive state where
the universe conspires with personal performance leading to spectacular
results. from the specators seat 'it looks so easy -elegant!'

Michelle Kwan's World Championship Skating performance - a 10-she couldn't put a wrong foot down.

Musican's call it finding 'their groove.' The jazz instruments harmonize
and enhance each other. Yoyo Ma's cello resonates deeply though the concert
hall.

Usually these moments are fleeting and only attained in relationship to a
specific activity, but what if...
What if getting to the zone or into the groove didn't come accidently
What if it could be trained into the system
What if it could be deliberately accessed or had at will.
What if it wasn't a fleeting moment? What if it remained after the game?...
how would it be to be in the zone, in the groove, in the flow of life ongoingly.
What if it was simply a matter of choosing it...
This is what the Mythoself Process offers...
The choice to be in the zone at will and allways.

In a Nutshell...

Author: Mike

That, in a nutshell, is what I learned is the key to life, to creating your own life. Those four seemingly simple words are the basis of the power we can harness in life to use for our benefit. It took me many years to learn the power of those four words. The best way to begin is to illustrate an example of what I am talking about in the telling of this short fictional tale.

There was a lone wanderer who had been traveling for many days and had grown weary. One day he stumbled upon an abandoned cabin in the woods. Night began to fall as he peered through the cabin window. Deciding no one was occupying the space, the lone wanderer stepped inside and began to undress.Finding a small cot in a corner of the room, he tiredly rested his head upon a pillow. The last faint streams of sunlight illuminated a wooden chair a few feet from the cot. Upon the chair the man viewed an object. It sat coiled on the chair perfectly still.

A rattlesnake, the wanderer deduced and began to shiver. His fear of snakes, born in childhood, rose up inside him. The wanderer remained very still as the sun dipped completely below the horizon. His eyes stayed fixed upon the chair throughout the night.

At one point, he swore to himself that the snake began to slither and hiss. The petrified wanderer stiffened his body and shut his eyes tight. His heart pumped faster and faster, and he began to sweat profusely. His panic raced through the night along with the rapid beat of his heart.

The following morning, the owner of the cabin returned from his trip. He discovered the wanderer lying on his cot. He prodded the man several times, only to realize the man was dead. Confused, the owner looked around the room for clues to the stranger's identity.

He noticed the small pile of clothes tucked neatly beneath the wooden chair. Finding no clue to the man's identity inside the clothes, the owner gently placed them on the wooden chair. He removed the coil of rope on the wooden chair that he had left behind. What strange circumstances, the owner thought to himself.

What this short tale illustrates is the incredibly immense power inside each one of us. The wanderer's sure belief that the coil of rope on the chair was a snake created within him a panic that eventually killed him.

This example may seem strange to you, but we have inside of us this very same immense power. This is the power of our beliefs, our thoughts, of that which we accept and hold within us.

Allowing a reality of danger to overpower him, the wanderer created for himself his death that peaceful night. We do this same creating for ourselves all the time.

It is what we are, so it is what we do. We are creators, the constant creators of our own reality. We do this creating because it is our nature.

Life doesn't command you, you command life. It may seem at times that we are powerless over certain situations in our lives, but the truth is, we are cause and effect creatures. We are constantly influencing every part of our lives.

You see, whatever you are accepting as true and factual for yourself is what you are making the rule of your life. What you accept as true and factual is up to no one else but yourself. You are constantly in one of two states, one of two choices.

You are either allowing something into your life or you are rejecting something from entering your life. "What am I giving access to?" That is the first question to ask yourself. Since life cannot rob from you or take from you without your cooperation, looking at what you are letting in is the place to put your focus.

Whether you are living none, some, or all of your life's dreams depends on this allowing, this giving access which, of course, begins with you. You are in charge of your life. You have been given the power to receive all that you wish to receive. This ability is your life power.

You are creating the difference of what you desire to live and what you actually do live. How are you doing this? You do this by your choices and decisions. You do this by what you hold to be true and factual. Any thought or idea you hold that runs contrary to your desires blocks those desires from entering your life. You are living within an illusion, a lie, and it is that lie that denies access to your dreams.

Life isn't random. Life isn't a chance experience by any stretch of the imagination. So you can only be receiving or living exactly that for which you have allowed a path. In order to create your dreams, you need to allow the power within you to affect the circumstances you are dealing in.

Your say has tremendous power. Your say is a tremendous force -- one that has been dictating the details of your life since the day you were born. So if it seems that you are stuck in an undesirable situation, it helps to remember this tremendous force within us, our life power.

We are beings who are able to choose, think and process from all the information that surrounds us. What we choose is what shapes and molds our lives. There is a response to everything that we think -- every thought, idea, belief and inclination that we hold.

The first tool in using your life power in creating for you is to identify just what it is you are holding inside as impossible or improbable, the limitations of your life. The goal is to connect to a new idea, a new concept, that opens your life to bigger and grander heights.

Using your tremendous force, your life power, changes your focus from the problems in your life to actively using your inner force as a natural part of yourself. To put it simply, whatever you allow for yourself is what you will receive in your life.

Whenever you allow something in your life, you tap into the constant stream of possibilities that always surround you. What happens is that concepts begin manifesting into realities. This process expands your life and your evolution as a constant creator.

Problems stem whenever a clash or conflict enters the areas of your wishes. This clash has to do with your thoughts and feelings, which is the powerful surge of energy inside you. If you desired a raise in pay but felt you didn't have a right to it for some reason, there would exist a clash or conflict within you and you would then create a block to that pay raise.

The area to place your focus is always inside yourself. This puts you at total choice and empowerment in your life. It has to be this way, for any other concept ultimately renders you helpless. Your assertion in any situation is very powerful as there is no other force that can override it.

Some people use the terms "mind over matter" or "positive thinking." It would be more accurate to describe it as "mind with matter" and "power thinking". You are working with the forces around you to shape and build your life.

It's not an arm wrestling match where one force must dominate over another. It's a matter of the force in you joining the forces around you. What is happening is that you are no longer fighting the entrance or admission of a desire into your life. Know that there are only two choices that you can make in your life. You can either let something in or block it out.

There may be varying degrees as to how much you let something in or block it out, but that is a matter of semantics. You are in one of these two energies, allowing or blocking. Creating becomes a much easier concept when you understand it this way. In order to create in your life, to bring in all the results you seek, you place your focus on allowing and letting in. You unleash, from the endless realm of choices, only that which you desire to have in your life.

Have you ever imagined that life is unfair? Maybe you've even thought some force, maybe God, was trying to keep you from your good. But that is irrational thinking and is simply not the way life works.

When it comes to receiving in your life, it is much more of a technical process. This is important to remember in order to create. You want to stay with the thought that, it is you creating your life. The moment you place that responsibility outside yourself, you return to victim class. You are not a victim and can never become one since the life power inside you is creating your life.

Begin to take your say literally. Begin to notice that you are causing things to happen or not happen. You are a cause and effect being. You are thinking, choosing and deciding in every moment of the day, and those thoughts, choices and decisions are bringing things to you. It's an exciting concept to embrace.

Every corner of the universe has an ear open listening to your next choice, your next opinion. Based on that opinion comes a corresponding response. Take the example of the telephone. There are an enormous amount of choices and possibilities contained in such a seemingly simple device.

Based on the numbers you select, you get a corresponding answer. You can speak to your neighbor across the street or to Aunt Tilly 8,000 miles away. This ability is not limited to Earthly conversations. We use the same technology to communicate from a building in Florida to various spacecraft that we launch miles above us.

The range of possible calls or connections is virtually limitless. It is the same with us. We exert a force that has an endless combination of possible connections and corresponding answers.

Do you find it impossible to believe that you can speak to Aunt Tilly so far away? Probably not. Then, why is it so impossible to understand that we are functioning in the same way? Contained within us is the same kind of choice and response communication. It is an amazing phenomenon, but no more amazing than the telephone.

You desire to speak to Aunt Tilly, you dial the number. You are using the system already in place. A few moments later, you are realizing your desire. It's amazingly simple and yet amazingly effective in its function. It gets the job done.

It's the same with the life power inside us, it may seem simple, and it is. But it is absolutely amazing in its ability to connect for you.

The thoughts you choose, the words you speak, the feelings you hold are the equivalent of dialing a phone. The words you speak are a command, pushing buttons and resulting in connections. The power you hold is much more extensive than the technology of the telephone.

For the words you speak and feelings you send out are a prophecy. You will live out those words and feelings. The "number" you are dialing is based on your perceptions, your slant on things. Life will never give you a, "the number you have reached is not in service at this time", response. For every time you make a choice, you dial a number, and a response is given.

What am I speaking? What am I dialing? What connections am I blocking or allowing? These are excellent questions to ask yourself. You are becoming aware of the process occurring all the time. You are placing an energy into life and getting its corresponding answer.

Deciding which responses you desire will not dictate which energy you choose, which numbers you dial. Gone become the days of believing life is a random series of events. Do you really believe you can dial any number and get Aunt Tilly? No, it takes certain numbers to reach your favorite aunt.

You can begin to use your life power and activate new connections in your life. The more unhappy you are in any area of life, the more you feel an imbalance, the more sure you can be there is an adjustment to make within. It is a matter of going inside to discover the causes of your current connections and disconnections. There is corresponding thought for your dream, just as there is a specific phone number to call Aunt Tilly.

Knowing that your circumstance is not in charge allows you to tap into a powerful way of life. You are returning to the power that is part of the truest you. You choose to enforce your power and bring it into your life as a regular part of your life. This power works in any part of our lives whether it be about money, joy, success, the home, relationships. What is it you are seeing in these areas of your life? Whatever it is, it's a direct reflection of the feelings you're holding inside.

What you are seeing around you is the result of the connections those feelings have made. These are the things you believe and hold as the truth. These are the things you have called into your life. You have made laws and rules through your feelings. What you are seeing is your laws and rules made real.

Since you are making the rules, you can also change them. All of life's challenges have to do with changing rules since they are the very thing that shapes your life. When you change your rules from being very strict and closed to open and generous, your life becomes the same.

Have you ever heard the phrase, "The truth will set you free?" This is so because it is a false or mistaken opinion or feeling that limited you to begin with. Therefore, a truth can erase that limit and set you free from it.

"I can do it ," "It is possible," and "There is a way," become your new mottos, your new laws and then your new reality. You no longer disable yourself or disallow your good from coming to you.

You join life's constant flow and use it to create for yourself. It's not a matter of trying to become all that you can be, but allowing all that you already are to surface. You stop drawing limiting lines and wondering why you keep encountering roadblocks. Now you know there is no line but the one you draw.

You begin to let things in and to let things be. You allow events to enter your life and become a part of you. You understand that your say has enormous influence and that your rules are life's bottom line. You have a life power -- the power to affect changes in your life.

You are in the lead. You can cause conflict and unfulfillment to leave your world. Feeling incomplete, out of whack and "not whole" end. Your power is a tremendous force. You now use that force as a dominating aspect of yourself.

You are a creator, a maker, and not a helpless victim on the sidelines. Your word is made real. You can begin to connect with all your dreams and wishes. ALLOWING IS THE KEY.

Exploring the Difference between Expert and Genius

Author: Mike

by Joseph Riggio, developer of the Mythogeic Self(tm) process

Both experts and geniuses have intuitions they operate from. The difference between the structure and categories of these intuitions has much to do with the differences between how experts and geniuses operate and where. First it is critical to point out that the usage of the words 'expert' and 'genius' refer to my own application and not to any particular definition. For the purposes used here 'expert' refers to someone who has a thorough knowledge (expertise) with some given subject, whether intellectual or experiential. So using this application we can say that an expert can operate in the field of their expertise be it tennis or art or philosophy. The expert is totally familiar with the patterns that exist in their field of expertise and in their application. In addition an expert would, as used here, be thoroughly familiar with the detection and recognition of these patterns. A genius goes beyond having knowledge of the subject, and may in fact be less knowledgeable than an expert in that subject. What a genius does for our purposes as used here is create new ways of operating within the field of their genius. They create patterns that do not yet exist. A genius, as used here, is capable of generating a pattern that has never been used before or in using an existing pattern in a way or ways that it has never been used before.

The "Intuition of Expertise" is "pattern dependent", that is in the detection, recognition, replication and application of pattern. The "Intuition of Genius" is "pattern independent", that is operating outside of pattern, generative. If this is true, and expertise is 'pattern dependent' than I would say that the art of modeling is the domain of expertise and is constrained by the limitation of pattern.

Both of these positions require a different 'ontology' to support the structure they employ for operating in the world. Specifically the position of 'genius' is internally generated - maintaining an internal stability regardless of external stimulus whilst maintaining an external flexibility in response to the external stimulus in relation to the internal stability being maintained. This is a recursive, generative loop. In comparison I would suggest that the position of 'expertise' is a dynamic of matching internal and external position based on what is know about the external stimulus perceived. This is a constantly shifting position adjusting internal to external balance in relation to one another.

Using the above characteristics, the 'expert' knows themselves in relation to the information present in sensory perception. The 'genius' knows themselves apart from the sensory perception. I'm suggesting that 'genius' may be of a higher logical level than 'expertise' as I'm using them here.

In differentiating between 'expertise' and 'genius' as I have used them there is the simultaneous differentiation of epistemology and ontology. 'Expertise' is an operational epistemology as I have defined it, where 'genius' is an operational ontology. That is, 'expertise' flows from an epistemological bias, "What does the 'expert' know and how do they know what they know in relation to external data?", and 'genius' flows from an ontological basis, "How does the 'genius' know to be who they are, regardless of the indications of the external data?"

This may be the basis for the 'Structure of Genius', operating from an ontological as opposed to an epistemological basis as primary. Intent (Result as Outcome when operated as a way of being) ® Innovation (operation outside of pattern) ® Genius

Pattern operated as Process will always lead to failure over time in any given system is the constant in the system is change. In order to ensure success over time in the system the intervention has to be systemic, taking into account the total system and it's state in time, to create a 'generative' response.

The difference that makes the difference is attending to CONTEXT as opposed to PROCESS. CONTEXT can not be contained in pattern in a dynamic system, especially if the system is sentient.

What is required in generating success in a systemic intervention is 'bringing the future present'. In 'real' terms for the individual operating within the system the 'future expectation' must be set into the somatic process ® loop the pre & post conscious experience.

Specifically what is occurring is that in the structure of genius the focus of attention is on the post-conscious (transconscious) position, this is the position of 'expectation'. By contrast, in the operational position of expertise the attention is fixed on the conscious or semantic position of knowledge or knowing.

From the position of the 'expert' the senses are trained to sort for what is known and to respond to sameness and difference there. In this way any intervention will be localized to the variants found from this particular sort, which may or may not be systemic. In any case they will be limited by the limits of the experts knowledge in noticing what is present.

When the sorting is done through the filtering process of 'genius' the senses are trained to detect what would make the expectation held possible, regardless of what is or is not present. This allows the genius to operate generatively from the creative bias. From this operating position any intervention will be at the systemic level, intervening in the context that the system operates within.

When the context is attended to and an intervention is made at this level with regard to what is expected, regardless of the present situational limitations, then we can say there has been a vertical shift in the response potential of the system. This is a non-local, non-linear event.

Genius is the output of the creative tension between the conscious and the unconscious, both of which use different forms of logic. These forms can be said to relate to the pairs of sense and intuition, detail and pattern, present and potential. Genius is the resolution of the apparent duality present in these seemingly incongruent pairs. Genius operates in paradox, resolving it.

To summarize and review we can say that the proposition put forth here is that 'expertise' is pattern dependent while 'genius' is pattern independent. The distinctions outlined above indicate that 'expertise' is a linear, local and temporal event = mechanical. While 'genius' is non-linear, non-local and a-temporal = quantum event. 'Expertise' operates in the domain of epistemology – what is known and how it is known as applied to the production of specified results, while 'genius' operates in the domain of ontology – what "is" and the internalized experience of existence and 'being' leading to generative output of as yet unrealized potential.

Personal Enlightenment

Greetings!
I came across this article at a web site called http://www.future-present.com:
and really like much of it, enough to want to add to the archives of this personal transformation/enlightenment oriented blog.
As a reminder to when we get seduced into thinking that we can somehow change the fundamental way we are in the world when we are identifying with our "false" sense of self, ie, that sense that we are alone, seperate, disconnected, limited, etc..

A Better Way to Communicate
By Andrew LeCompte

This is a personal article in which the personal enlightenment technology being referenced is based in Landmark Education by the author...

Scientists used to assume that people made most of their choices consciously.
They couldn’t prove it, but it was comforting to think that people were
consciously controlling their mind’s decisions.

Then, in the 1990’s, researching psychologists discovered a more accurate
explanation for how our mind perceives and decides. Let’s take a closer look at
the real causes of our behavior.

The Problem: Your Mind is Out of Control

In the last six years scientists have discovered startling facts about
unconscious, automatic processes in the human mind. These discoveries have
profoundly changed our understanding of what goes on when we communicate with
others. Here are some of the scientists’ conclusions:

You don’t understand what you see

You don’t know what causes your feelings

You don’t know what motivates your actions

When I first heard these ideas I felt insulted because I like to think that I’m
fairly intelligent. But gaining an additional thirty IQ points wouldn’t help me
to understand what I see. Nor would they help you. They could even get us
further off track because intelligence is not the problem.

The problem is that your mind, regardless of IQ, is not under your conscious
control. Your mind is running almost entirely on automatic systems for
perceiving, feeling and deciding what to do. Your mind unconsciously and
automatically judges everything it sees or hears, decides whether to like or
dislike it and then decides what you will do in relation to it.

Unfortunately, your mind’s perceptions and evaluations are often very mistaken.
Your mind sees attack where there is none. Your mind makes up negative cases
against people and then induces you to react defensively. As a result your life
seems to run normally until, wham, you get into a
conflict with someone and your peace, happiness and potential contribution get
derailed, often seriously.

Automatic Mental Systems (your "judge")

Social psychologists, led by Dr. John Bargh1 at New York University, have
demonstrated that the vast majority of our choices are made by unconscious,
automatic processes in our mind. Here is how an automatic process develops:

The mind has a tremendous amount of data streaming into it from the senses every
second. The eyes alone scan two billion bits of data per second. Our
consciousness makes sense of this data relatively slowly. A young child, for
example, over time learns that a certain pattern of visual data means a chair.
The child then looks for similar patterns and quickly discovers other chairs.
Eventually this task is delegated to the unconscious and recognition is
automatic. This is very helpful because the ability to do routine operations
unconsciously frees our conscious mind up for other things.

Unconscious information processing and decision making is much more powerful and
pervasive than had previously been thought. The principle social function of the
unconscious mind is to quickly judge whether other people and their actions are
good or bad. For this reason I will refer to the automated, unconscious systems
in the mind simply as "the judge." Bargh’s research has
identified three parallel systems of preconscious analysis, the judge’s three
functions:
The judge perceives and decides what people and things are. He does not do this
on the basis of an objective reality. He does this on the basis of what he has
been trained to see.
Therefore it is subjective. We assume that our beliefs about what things are are
the objective truth only because most of our beliefs are commonly held.

The subjective nature of the perception process is easier to see in the case of
someone who has a high IQ but a different set of beliefs about the world. For
example2, when a man, raised in a deep forest with only 100 yards visibility,
traveled for the first time in his life out on the plain, he was convinced he
was seeing "beetles and ants" turn into buffaloes as he was driven closer to
them. His false perception of distant buffalo as insects was the result of his
mental judge’s attempts to arrange visual data to suit his world view. Human
perception depends on what the judge has been primed to see.

Once the judge has made his determination of what something is, he proceeds to
select data that confirm his position. The judge chooses what he is trained to
look for, the "facts" that confirm his belief system. Hence, what you see is
only what you unconsciously expect to see, or your projection. The judge creates
your psychological situation. He creates your world.

The judge evaluates and decides whether he likes or dislikes every person or
thing and hence whether to approach or to avoid it. Bargh’s research proves that
everything is evaluated pre-consciously. That means that even before we
consciously know what something is, our mind has made the "like" or "dislike"
decision. Nothing is neutral and our emotions are directly wired into this
decision. Thus, if your judge decides that someone is "wrong" you will feel
angry toward that person.

The judge also gives us a motive, his own goal, or course of action for dealing
with the situation. He may choose to accept someone or to attack them.
Unfortunately, the judges of the world are a fearful lot and quick to defend
themselves.

Here is a closer look at how unconscious, automatic judgments influence us
socially. Your judge first evaluates others on the basis of his own stereotypes
and prejudices. When a person against whom your judge is prejudiced is upset and
calls for help, their call is usually interpreted by your judge as an attack. So
your judge provides his best defense: attacking them. When they react by
defending themselves, their defensive action seems to prove their original bad
intention. Thus the judge’s initial judgment of the person as hostile now
appears as though it was correct, making a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Because your automatic mental systems run unconsciously; you are not aware that
any of this has happened. Your explanations for your own behavior tend to be
inaccurate, after-the-fact rationalizations. Bargh cites a study in which a
participant, while hypnotized, was directed to crawl on her hands and knees
after awakening from hypnosis. When she woke from hypnosis she got down on her
hands and knees and said "I think I lost an earring down here." In a similar
way, your judge comes forth with plausible explanations for your behavior.

Your judge’s analyses and decisions occur in less than a quarter of a second and
are completely unconscious. According to Bargh, automaticity determines 99% of
your behavior. When you examine one of your decisions you experience it as
objective. However, the entire information base you used to make your decision
was selected by your judge to prove a point he had previously
established. Because you didn’t know that the data the judge passed on to you
was biased, you trusted it. This means that you cannot be objective.

Ontology

Author: Mike

Ontology or the ontology process, in the sense we it is being used here- refers to the top level of the hierarchy of identity and the ongoing experience of one's life that that exists within it.

The ontological consideration is the top level of a hierarchy, the starting point form which all things below it are considered in relation to it. This site is oriented toward exploring this a very specific way-- that is the from the standpoint of humans in relation to themselves and their worlds.

The Outcome...

Author: Mike

For those curious as to the outcome of the story The Matrix - it is well worth the trip. Here's a word of advice-- don't pay attention to phrases like "good" great" "bad" or "awful" when reading reviews.

If you have any experiences with the journey of shifting your way of "being" in the world like though landmark education programs or insight programs or lifespring programs or the mythogenic self programs, you will find that the wakowski brothers have indeed made that journey too.

With films like this out in the world as evidence of people's shifting internal experiences, I am optimistic that we as humanity are moving in a direction through the chaos that is totally unimaginable for us yet held out into a collective future Intent that we are moving toward with a steady future present orientation instead of a past-future one - in other words saying the future will be what we say it will be because we say so- not based on circumstance and environment...
